Andrew Davidson
Born in Canada on April 12th, 1969, Andrew Davidson is one of the best selling novelists in the world. After graduating from the University of British Columbia and receiving a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature he spent a few years in Japan teaching English and writing English articles for Japanese sites. His debut novel is called 'The Gargoyle' also known as 'Burned by love'. The novel is the result of over seven years of research which enjoyed a very big success even before the book was actually published. The manuscript was sold in more than 20 countries long before the release, managing an unprecedented performance.
Obviously, laudatory literary critics soon appeared. Most reviewers made comparisons with The English Patient or The Name of The Rose but beyond some marketing exaggerated reactions that accompany a work that needs to be directly on top of sales, the book really is a first class novel meant to thrill all readers and to satisfy even the most inveterate taste. It is a complex literature style with a universal humanitarian message and a practically exhaustive cultural coverage that catches any reader’s attention and curiosity. Another topic that is strongly debated and analyzed in the book is love. Love as a rescuer from the daily life and a salvation from that inferno.
The first editor of the book acquired publishing rights for 1.25 million U.S.D. The manuscript was sold before publication by auction in 23 countries. Immediately after its release, the novel appeared in New York Times Book Review as the newest bestselling novel. In 2009 the novel received a nomination for the Galaxy British Book Awards. In his latest interviews, when asked if he is planning to write anymore novel books he truthfully answered that after the tournaments for 'The Gargoyle' he will settle down and begin to write some more but not in the same fictional or psychological style.
