Andrew Davidson's Gargoyle

Andrew Davidson was born on April 12, 1969, in Pinawa, Manitoba. After obtaining a B.A in English literature, he spent some time in Japan, working as an English teacher. 'The Gargoyle' is his first novel, for which he worked for seven years. The manuscript of the novel had been sold by auction before its publishing in 23 countries.

Besides its exciting love story, 'The Gargoyle' can be considered a key novel, because it delivers its message by using philosophical, medical, architectural, and literature concepts. The story teller in 'The Gargoyle' book is a contemporary character, cynical, beautiful and a bit of a lover boy, who haunts through the moral void of modern life.

'The Gargoyle' novel begins with our hero driving his car on a dark road, when his attention is distracted by what appears to be a rain of arrows. The car falls in a gulch, and the nameless character suffers terrible burns all over his body. He wakes up in a hospital, suffering unimaginable throes, already planning his suicide on the day he will leave the hospital. He is transformed into a monster, not only regarding his body, but also his soul.

But 'The Gargoyle' by Andrew Davidson is a love novel, an things get an unexpected turn. The appearance of a mystery woman, Mariann Engel- a gargoyle sculptor, changes everything. She confesses she knows the nameless man from a different life and that they used to be lovers 700 years ago.

The story gets very captivating and keeps the reader always curious for more. The book is definitely worth reading and the ending is very emotional.
